Listed below are specific duas and Quranic surahs, with the blessings of which Allah Almighty opens closed paths of employment.
Powerful Quranic Dua for Job

Transliteration: Rabbi inni lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqir.

When should you recite this dua?
This is widely considered one of the best prayers for anyone feeling:
- Helpless or lonely.
- In need of a job or sustenance.
- Seeking a righteous spouse (as Musa was granted a home, a family, and work shortly after making this dua).

رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِّن لِّسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
Transliteration: Rabbi ishrah lī ṣadrī, wa yassir lī amrī, wa ḥlul ‘uqdatam min lisānī yafqahū qawlī.
Translation: “My Lord, expand for me my breast (grant me confidence), and ease for me my task, and untie the knot from my tongue so that they understand my speech”.
Surah Al-Waqiah: The Key to Sustenance
Surah Al-Waqi’ah is one of the blessed surahs of the Holy Quran whose virtues are very famous for alleviating the shortage of sustenance and obtaining blessings.
It is stated in the Hadith:
“Whoever recites Surah Waqiah every night will never be afflicted with hunger or extreme poverty.” (Shu’b al-Iman)
Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas’ud (RA) used to order his daughters to recite it every night so that they don’t be dependent on anyone.
When you read it with conviction and continue your efforts, God willing, you will soon find employment opportunities from places you never imagined.
Recite Surah Al-Waqiah daily after Isha prayer or before going to bed.
Salatul Hajat for a Job
The prayer of need is a good Sunnah way to turn to Allah Almighty for a solution to any of your legitimate needs or problems. If you are looking for a job and want Allah Almighty to create better and faster opportunities for you, then pray the prayer of need.
The method of Salatul Hajat is that a person should perform ablution (Wadu) properly and pray two rak’ahs of Nafl prayer with the intention that Allah Almighty will remove his problems related to his job; after finishing the prayer, he should praise Allah, send blessings upon the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and then make the famous supplication that is mentioned in the blessed hadith (“La ilaha illallah illa Allah, Haleem Karim…”).
Golden Rules for Success in Job
Following are some golden rules for employment and business in the light of the Quran and Hadith:
Obligation to Pray
Prayer is the peace of the soul and the best source of blessings in sustenance. When we bow before Allah, He opens the closed doors of sustenance for us.
In the Quran and Hadith, prayer is not only an act of worship but also a means of getting rid of worries and increasing your sustenance.
Quranic promise: Allah Almighty says:
“And enjoin prayer on your family and be steadfast in it. We do not ask you for sustenance, but We provide for you.” (Surah Taha: 132)
Prayer reduces a person’s mental stress, which builds self-confidence in job interviews and job hunting.
Prayer strengthens the relationship between you and Allah. When you fulfill Allah’s rights, Allah makes things easy for you.
The Intention of Lawful Sustenance
Halal sustenance is considered a noble act and worship in Islamic teachings. Allah Almighty has commanded man to work hard and has Himself promised sustenance.
When you look for a job with the intention of fulfilling your own and your family’s needs and not spreading your hands in front of anyone, then every step you take counts as worship.
Be Patient with Job Delays
If you continue to try consistently with patience and gratitude, your mind will stay focused on finding “solutions” instead of worrying.
When someone is looking for a job, this time is quite difficult mentally and emotionally. In the job search, one has to face rejection many times. Patience keeps you mentally ready to apply for the next place.
Charity for New Job
Charity does not only reduce wealth, but also creates blessings in it. When you relieve the hardships of Allah’s servants, Allah relieves your hardships.
According to the Hadith, charity averts calamities and troubles. Sometimes sins or trials are obstacles in the path of sustenance, charity removes these obstacles.
Summary
The only one who provides sustenance is Allah. Continue your efforts and prepare for the interview. And also adopt these spiritual methods. Insha Allah you will see miraculous results very soon and Allah will create sustenance for you from places you never imagined.
O Allah! Grant all the unemployed lawful and honorable sustenance. Amen.
