Supplication is actually the name of talking to Allah Almighty, presenting one’s needs and acknowledging one’s humility before Him. It is a direct communication between the servant and the Creator.
Dua literally means “calling” or “asking”. From an Islamic perspective, dua is not just a collection of words but a state of the heart in which a person acknowledges his helplessness and trusts in the perfect power of Allah.
The Importance of Dua
According to a famous hadith, “Supplication is the essence of worship”.
In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says:
“And when My servants ask you about Me, (say) I am near, I hear the call of the one who calls upon Me” (Surah Al-Baqarah).
It is said about dua that it is an act that has the ability to change even the written decree (by Allah’s command) or reduce its severity.
Through dua, a person entrusts his worries to Allah.
