Morning is the best time to gather the blessings of Allah Almighty and spend your day under His protection. The time from the moment you wake up in the morning until the sun rises is very blessed. The purpose of these prayers is not only to gain reward but also to protect yourself from satanic whispers and to gain the pleasure of Allah.
Below are comprehensive Sunnah prayers, Quranic verses, and spiritual words that can brighten your day.
1- Dua for Awakening
When you open your eyes, first thank the Lord who gave you a new life: recite this dua.
“All praise is due to Allah, who gave us life after He had caused us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.”
2- Three Times in the Morning
The companion Abdur-Rahman ibn Abi Bakrah once said to his father:
“O my father! I hear you supplicating every morning: ‘O Allah! Grant me health in my body. O Allah! Grant me good hearing. O Allah! Grant me good eyesight. There is no god but You.’ You repeat them three times in the morning and three times in the evening.”
His father, Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him), replied:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) using these words as a supplication and I like to follow his practice.” (Sunan Abi Dawud (Hadith No. 5090).
Allahumma ‘afini fi badani, Allahumma ‘afini fi sam’i, Allahumma ‘afini fi basari, La ilaha illa Ant. Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-kufri wal-faqr, Allahumma inni a’udhu bika min ‘adhabil-qabr, La ilaha illa Ant.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from disbelief and poverty. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. There is no deity worthy of worship except You.”
3- Dua for Protection from All Harm
It is narrated from Hazrat Usman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) that whoever recites this supplication three times in the morning and evening, nothing can harm him:
Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma’as-mihi shay’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i, wa Huwas-Sami’ul-‘Alim.

4- Sayyid Astaghfar (Dua of repentance)
It was narrated from Hazrat Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said:

Sayyid Astaghfar Virtue
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
Whoever recites this supplication during the day with complete certainty and dies before evening, he will be a person of Paradise.
Whoever recites it at night with complete certainty and dies before morning, he will be a person of Paradise.
(Reference: Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 6306)
“O Allah! You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise (to You) as much as I can. I seek refuge in You from all the evil I have practiced. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess all my sins to You. So forgive me, for nobody can forgive sins except You.”
5- Morning Dua
Subhan-Allahi wa bi-hamdihi, ‘adada khalqihi, wa rida nafsihi, wa zinata ‘arshihi, wa midada kalimatihi.
“Glory be to Allah and pristine is His Praise, as many times as the number of His creation, as much as pleases Him, as much as the weight of His Throne, and as much as the ink of His words.”
6- Dua for Protection
This is a beautiful and comprehensive prayer for protection and well-being, often referred to as one of the Morning and Evening Adhkar (supplications).

Allahummah-fazni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa ‘an yameeni wa ‘an shimali wa min fawqi, wa a’udhu bi-’azmatika an ughtala min tahti.
“O Allah, I ask You for well-being in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for forgiveness and well-being in my religion, my worldly affairs, my family, and my wealth. O Allah, conceal my faults and calm my fears. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your Greatness from being swallowed up from beneath me.”
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (RA) narrates:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would never abandon these words (supplications) when he prayed in the morning or in the evening.”
This shows that this supplication was one of the most beloved supplications of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) which he used to recite regularly every day.
Quranic Surahs and Verses for Morning
Including the following Quranic verses and surahs in the morning prayers brings peace to the heart and blessings to the home:
Ayat al-Kursi (The Throne Verse)
The one who recites Ayatul Kursi remains under the protection of Allah until evening.
“The Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever recites Ayatul Kursi in the morning will be protected from the jinn until the evening, and whoever recites it in the evening will be protected from them until the morning.” (Al-Nasa’i, and authenticated by al-Albani in Sahih al-Targheeb: 658)
Allāhu lā ilāha illā huwal-ḥayyul-qayyūm, lā ta’khudhuhū sinatuw-wa lā nawm, lahū mā fis-samāwāti wa mā fil-’arḍ, man dhalladhī yashfa‘u ‘indahū illā bi’idhnih, ya‘lamu mā bayna aydīhim wa mā khalfahum, wa lā yuḥīṭūna bishay’im-min ‘ilmihī illā bimā shā’, wasi‘a kursiyyuhus-samāwāti wal-’arḍ, wa lā ya’ūduhū ḥifẓuhumā, wa huwal-‘aliyyul-‘aẓīm.
“Allah! There is no god but He, the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).”
Mu’awwidhatayn (the Surahs of Protection)
Surah Al-Ikhlas (قُل هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ), Surah Al-Falaq (قُل أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الفَلَقِ), and Surah An-Nas (قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ) – whoever recites these Surahs three times in the morning and evening, they will suffice him from everything. Hasan (Sahih Al-Tirmidhi 3/182)
The Hadith Reference
The full narration is often cited from Abdullah ibn Khubayb, who reported:
“We went out on a rainy night and it was very dark to look for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to lead us in prayer. When I found him, he said, ‘Say.’ I did not say anything. Then he said, ‘Say.’ I did not say anything. Then he said, ‘Say.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what should I say?’ He said, ‘Recite Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad and the Mu’awwidhatayn (Al-Falaq and An-Nas) three times in the evening and in the morning; they will suffice you against everything.'” — (Sunan Abi Dawud, Sunan al-Tirmidhi)
Recommended Times for Recitation
Based on various authentic narrations (Sunnah), these Surahs are recommended at the following times:
- Morning and Evening: Three times each (as per your mention).
- Before Sleep: Recited into the palms, which are then blown upon and rubbed over the body.
- After Obligatory Prayers: Recited once after each prayer (and three times after Fajr and Maghrib in some traditions).
- When Ill: Used as Ruqyah (spiritual healing) for oneself or others.
Benefits of Morning Adhkar
Morning adhans are not just a few words, but they are a spiritual shield, psychological peace and a source of goodness and blessings for a Muslim throughout the day. The following is a description of their virtues and benefits in the light of the Quran and Hadith:
Closeness to Allah and remembrance of Allah
In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says: “Remember Me, I will remember you” (Al-Baqarah: 152). Remembering Allah early in the morning strengthens the bond of the servant with his Creator, which brings freshness to faith.
Protection from satanic whispers and evil
By reciting the morning adhans (especially Mu’awwidhatin, Ayatul Kursi and “In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can harm…”), a person takes refuge in Allah throughout the day from the attacks of Satan, magic, the evil eye and the evil of envious people. According to the Hadith, nothing can harm the one who recites these words.
Elimination of psychological peace and anxiety
In today’s era, mental stress and anxiety are common. The remembrance of Allah gives hearts a peace that cannot be obtained from anything else. The Almighty says: “Beware! Only in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find peace” (Ar-Ra’d: 28).
Forgiveness of sins and elevation of ranks
The morning dhikr includes tasbeeh (such as Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi) about which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said that even if one’s sins were equal to the foam of the sea, they would be forgiven. These words lead to a heavy weight of good deeds in the book of deeds.
A person who recites the morning adhkar comes under the protection of Allah. These adhkar energize the soul and make a person strong against the bitterness and accidents of the day.
May Allah Almighty illuminate your morning with His blessings. May the blessings of these duas protect you from evil and temptation throughout your day. May He make your entire day a cradle of goodness and well-being.
