Duas for Righteous Offspring: Dua for a Baby Boy (Aulad-e-Narina)

In Islam, children, whether sons or daughters, are a great blessing and gift from Allah. Allah says in the Holy Quran:

“He grants daughters to whom He wills, and He grants sons to whom He wills.” (Al-Shura: 49)

Among the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon man, “children” are the most beautiful and precious. In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty has described wealth and children as “the adornment of the life of this world.”

There are many powerful duas for righteous children in the Quran and Sunnah. These are often called the supplications of the prophets.

Here are some of the most prominent duas for offspring:

Dua of Prophet Zakariyya (AS)

This dua is in the Holy Quran (Surah Al-Imran, verse 38). Hazrat Zakariya (AS) asked Allah for righteous children, when he was deprived of the blessing of children.

According to scholars, this prayer includes the desire for a son. Zakariya (AS) wanted an heir who could carry forward the mission of spreading the religion after him.

This dua is a sign that it is permissible to wish for a righteous son. The intention should be that the child be obedient to Allah and a source of good for society.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِن لَّدُنكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً ۖ إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ

Transliteration: Rabbi hab li mil ladunka dhurriyyatan tayyibatan innaka sami‘ud-du‘a.

Translation: “My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication.” (3:38)

The Dua for Righteous Offspring

This Quranic supplication is part of verse 74 of Surah Al-Furqan, which is considered one of the most comprehensive and beautiful dua.

Transliteration: Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a‘yunin waj‘alna lil-muttaqina imama.

Translation: “Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous.” (25:74)

A person’s true happiness and peace are associated with his family. ” قُرَّةَ” means happiness that satisfies a person’s heart and makes him prosperous in this world and the hereafter. That is, children and spouses should not be just worldly adornments, but should be virtuous, obedient, and moral, seeing which fills the heart with joy.

Dua for a Pious Son (Prophet Ibrahim AS)

Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him) made several duas for his children which are recorded in the Quran. The most famous dua for his righteous son is found in Surah As-Saffat.

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

Transliteration: Rabbi hab li minas-salihin.

Translation: “My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous.” (37:100)

May Allah grant you righteous, healthy, and pious offspring who bring joy and peace to your family.

The Power of Seeking Forgiveness

In the Holy Quran, in Surah Nuh, Allah Almighty has clearly stated that those who seek forgiveness frequently, Allah will grant them wealth and children (Amwal wa Banin).

So I said, “Ask forgiveness from your Lord. Indeed, He is Oft-Forgiving. He will send down rain upon you from the sky and increase you in wealth and children.”

The Etiquette (Adab) of Making Dua

To increase the likelihood of your prayer being answered, consider the following spiritual etiquettes:

  1. Patience (Sabr): Allah answers in His own time. Never lose hope.
  2. Gratitude (Shukr): Be grateful for the blessings you already have. Gratitude is a magnet for more blessings.
  3. Tahajjud: The time of the night prayer is a sacred window where the “gates of heaven” are open for supplication.
  4. Charity (Sadaqah): Giving to the needy with the intention of having your Dua accepted is a powerful practice in the Sunnah.

Important Principles of Raising a Son

To make a son a responsible and strong member of society, it is important to pay attention to the following issues:

  1. Religious and moral training
A son should be taught to distinguish between halal and haram and to observe prayer and fasting from childhood. He should be taught the lessons of truthfulness, honesty and keeping promises so that he grows up to be a practical person.
  2. Sense of responsibility
A son has to become the head and provider of the family in the future. Teach him the greatness of hard work and teach him to take responsibility for his words and actions.
  3. Respect for women
A good son is one who knows how to respect his mother, sisters and future spouse. He should be taught that masculinity is not in the expression of strength but in the protection and respect of the weak.
  4. Education and skills
In today’s era, it is necessary to equip a son with some skill along with modern education so that he can become financially independent and raise his family better.

Conclusion

Whether Allah grants you a son or a daughter, the ultimate goal of the “Dua for Aulad e Narina” should be to raise a human being who is kind, honest, and devoted to God. A son who honors his parents and lives a life of integrity is the true answer to this prayer.

A son is a blessing from Allah, but his true value is only when he is righteous and obedient. The true success of a son is not how much money he earns, but rather that he proves to be a continuous charity for his parents and a useful citizen for society.

May Allah grant all those who are seeking children a righteous, healthy, and blessed offspring who becomes the “coolness of their eyes” in this life and the next. Amin.
